The scheme, aimed at 16 to 25-year-olds seeking education, employment, or training, offers participants a chance to develop practical skills in working with nature. Sessions are being held at Stretford Meadows and began in September, with further opportunities available over the coming weeks. Participants can attend sessions individually or as part of a sequence.
The training includes learning about native tree species and how to manage them using various tools such as shears, loppers, and scythes. This initiative aligns with the Council's objectives to foster a thriving economy, support young people's development, and address the climate crisis.
The 'Seeds Of Change' programme has received Economic Inactivity Trailblazer funding via Trafford Council. Interested young people can find more information and book a place on the City of Trees website.
“"We are pleased to support this project. It is a great way for young people who are unsure of their next move to build some new skills and get a different perspective. Our partner City of Trees is working with the Council to offer this opportunity to try out forestry and conservation work, outdoors, in our natural environment. I’d urge any young person who is interested to give this a go."
