Communities across Wyre will gather this month for Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day commemorations, honouring the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces. Wyre Council is facilitating attendance with free parking and organising services across the borough.

Wyre Council is coordinating a series of Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day events across the borough to honour the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces, past and present. Parades, processions, and services will see veterans, serving personnel, community groups, elected members, and residents come together.
To facilitate attendance, Wyre Council will offer free parking on Sunday 8 November between 8am and 2pm at car parks in Poulton-le-Fylde (Wheatsheaf Way), Garstang (High Street), Thornton-Cleveleys (Derby Road East and West), and Fleetwood (Albert Street and Custom House Lane).
Ahead of the commemorations, council teams have been undertaking seasonal planting and maintenance at memorial sites. Volunteers and representatives from the Royal British Legion have also placed wooden crosses on war graves at Fleetwood Cemetery. Dedicated teams will begin final preparations, including planting chrysanthemums, from 4.30am on Remembrance Sunday.

We invite residents to join us at one of the services taking place across the borough as we pay our respects and remember those who gave so much."

Councillor Michael Vincent · Leader of Wyre Council
