Residents in Barrow and surrounding areas are benefiting from significant improvements to community facilities following a major investment in the village hall and adjacent public car park.

The projects, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and managed by Ribble Valley Borough Council, aim to support community activity, accessibility, and local wellbeing. The village hall, officially opened earlier this year, has become a central hub for residents, groups, and organisations, offering a modern and flexible venue. The resurfaced car park provides improved access and safer parking for hall users and visitors.
The hall's operational committee, comprised of trustees and local volunteers, is developing a programme of regular events and activities. Further enhancements to the building and its facilities are also being explored, with continued community use and future funding opportunities expected to drive further investment and development.

The completion of the village hall and associated car park improvements marks a significant milestone for Barrow. Thanks to the support of Ribble Valley Borough Council members and officers, funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and the hard work of many individuals including district and parish councillors, we now have a modern community facility that will serve residents for many years to come. We encourage residents to make use of this fantastic asset and help shape its future success. Through continued use and community support, we can continue improving the facilities and creating even more opportunities for local people.

The projects received £437,000 of UKSPF funding, with £350,000 invested in the village hall and £54,000 in the car park. The village hall was also established as a registered charity this summer. The building offers a main bar area, kitchen facilities, a flexible adjoining hall, three first-floor meeting rooms, fully accessible parking and building access, high-speed Wi-Fi, and audio-visual equipment.
Enquiries for hiring the hall for regular activities, meetings, events, celebrations, or special occasions are welcomed. Further information can be found on the Barrow Village Hall Facebook page or the Barrow Parish Council website. Booking enquiries can be made via hall administrator Sandie Dent on 07920 031635.
