Over 100 participants in the 2026 River Ribble Ramble have raised £746.41 for BBC Children in Need, with the event taking place along the scenic coastal path near Lytham.

The seventh annual charity walk, co-founded by Councillor Tommy Threlfall and Graham Liver, saw families and walkers of all ages set off from Fairhaven. The event featured a warm-up from YMCA Fylde Coast, the Discover Fylde tourism van, and the Wave Coffee Trailer on the lawn, with refreshments provided at a halfway stop near Lytham Windmill.
Councillor Tommy Threlfall, Fylde Council’s Lead Member for Environment, expressed his gratitude for the community's efforts. He stated, “Seeing so many people of all ages walking together for such a brilliant cause really shows the generous heart of our community.” The funds raised will support projects across the UK that help children and young people facing difficult times.
“

"What a day! When Graham and I set off on the very first ramble seven years ago, we never imagined it would grow into something this special. Children in Need makes a real difference to the lives of children and young people facing tough times and knowing that every step taken along the River Ribble today helps make that possible is what makes me so grateful for everyone’s efforts. Seeing so many people of all ages walking together for such a brilliant cause really shows the generous heart of our community. A huge thank you to everyone who walked, donated and cheered us on. You’ve made a real difference, and I can’t wait to see you all again next year."
