Local skaters, BMX riders, and scooter users are invited to help shape the design of a new wheeled sports facility at St James’ in Accrington. A consultation event will be held on Thursday, 22nd October.
Hyndburn Borough Council is collaborating with specialist skatepark contractor Bendcrete Skateparks to develop proposals for an enhanced wheeled sports facility at St James’ in Accrington. This new facility will replace the existing skatepark situated between Eagle Street and St James’ Street.
As a key part of the project's progression, local enthusiasts of skating, BMX, scooters, and other wheeled sports are encouraged to attend a design consultation session. This event will provide an opportunity to meet the Bendcrete design team, discuss potential features, and share ideas directly with the designers.
The consultation session is scheduled for Thursday, 22nd October, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at The Zone (also known as New Era), located at Paradise Street, Accrington, BB5 1PB. Everyone is welcome to attend.

"We want the new facility at St James’ to be shaped by the people who will actually use it. This is a great opportunity for local riders to speak directly to the specialist designers and make sure their experience and ideas are considered as the proposals develop."

"We’re looking forward to meeting local riders and hearing first-hand what they enjoy, what works well and what they would like from the new facility. You don’t need to arrive with a finished design or technical knowledge. Whether there is a particular feature you would love to ride or simply something you think would make the facility better, come and talk to us. Those conversations are really valuable when developing a design that works for its users."
The existing skate park will close and its ramps will be removed in October 2026, marking a significant step towards the redevelopment. Further project updates, including design developments and subsequent stages, will be shared as the scheme progresses. More information is available via a dedicated project page.
