“"Community groups and charities play an important role in making Congleton a great place to live. Our grants can help local organisations develop their activities, reach more people and make a positive difference to residents’ lives. I would encourage any eligible group with a project or idea that benefits our community to find out more and apply."

Local community groups, charities, and not-for-profit organisations in Congleton are encouraged to apply for funding from Congleton Town Council, with the deadline for the next round of community grants extended to Monday 26 October.
The town council awards approximately £15,000 in community grants annually to support projects and activities that benefit Congleton residents. Applications submitted by 26 October will be reviewed at the Finance and Policy Committee meeting on Thursday 5 November, when the next grants will be allocated.
Congleton Chess Club, a previous beneficiary, received support to establish regular, inclusive activities. The club, which recently marked its first anniversary, is preparing to launch an under-16 section. Founder Maurice Scholes noted the club's progress, including friendly matches, league participation, and support for chess activities at a local primary school, expressing gratitude for the council's financial assistance.
Congleton Town Council invites applications from Congleton-based charities, community and voluntary groups, not-for-profit community businesses, and individuals with projects or events that benefit the wider community. Organisations outside Congleton may also apply if their project serves Congleton residents.
All applicants must complete a Financial Assistance Application Form. Applications are reviewed by the council’s Finance and Policy Committee, which convenes every six to eight weeks. The remaining application deadlines for the 2026–27 funding year are: Monday 26 October 2026 (for the meeting on Thursday 5 November 2026); Friday 1 January 2027 (for the meeting on Thursday 14 January 2027); and Friday 26 February 2027 (for the meeting on Thursday 4 March 2027).
