Three primary schools in Oldham have been recognised for their outstanding performance in the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge, 'Read to the Beat', which encouraged children to discover the joy of reading.

Royton Hall Primary School, St Martin’s Primary School, and Greenfield Primary School achieved the highest participation rates among 92 schools across Oldham. Representatives from Oldham Libraries and partner Kajima visited each school to present book tokens, acknowledging the pupils' dedication to reading.
Kajima has sponsored the Summer Reading Challenge for the sixth consecutive year, aiming to cultivate a lifelong love of books in Oldham's children. The initiative underscores the vital role of partnerships between schools, libraries, and local organisations in enhancing children's literacy, building reading confidence, and making reading an engaging and rewarding experience.
