On Friday 2nd October, leaders from Ashton Sixth Form College, Oldham Sixth Form College, and Rochdale Sixth Form College convened as part of the Pennine Educational Partnership. This initiative strengthens a shared commitment to enhancing the outcomes for young people across the region. Through collaborative discussions focusing on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision, safeguarding, and the progress of high-achieving students, the partnership highlighted the impact of collective responsibility in addressing regional opportunities and challenges.
The three colleges, united by common values and an understanding of the socioeconomic context of their students, recognise that educational success extends beyond academic achievement. By sharing expertise, best practices, and innovative approaches, the partnership aims to ensure that every young person, irrespective of their background or circumstances, receives the support, opportunities, and encouragement needed to thrive.
This collaboration is founded on a shared belief in education as a significant driver of social mobility. By working together to bolster safeguarding measures, improve support for students with additional needs, and maximise the potential of gifted learners, the Pennine Educational Partnership seeks to dismantle barriers, elevate aspirations, and broaden life chances. The collective aim is to empower all young people to realise their potential and progress confidently towards higher education, skilled employment, and fulfilling futures.
Operating through collaboration rather than competition, the partnership is actively building a more robust educational landscape across the Pennines. Young people remain at the centre of every discussion and decision, with the ultimate goal of transforming lives, strengthening communities, and generating greater opportunities for the next generation.
