“"We know from the feedback we've already received as part of this process that library services are highly valued by communities across Cumberland. It is now up to us to make sure these services meet the current and future needs of local people. To help us do this, if you live, work or are involved in the Seaton community, please complete our survey or attend one of our drop-ins to give your views."

Cumberland Council is inviting residents, businesses, and community groups in Seaton to share their views on local library services as part of an informal engagement exercise.
The exercise is a key part of the Libraries Fit for the Future programme, which aims to ensure library services meet current and future needs. The council seeks to build on existing information by directly engaging with the Seaton community to understand how the library is currently used, what aspects are most valued, and what could encourage greater usage.
Feedback gathered will help the council better understand local needs, including opinions on opening hours, services, facilities, and activities. It will also explore how the library can foster closer collaboration with the community and other local organisations.
This initiative follows the publication of the Strategic Needs Assessment in June, which was based on extensive engagement last year involving over 1,500 participants in surveys, workshops, and drop-in sessions.
Residents can participate through an online survey accessible via the council website, a paper version available at the library, or by attending drop-in sessions. The engagement period concludes on Monday 30 November. Drop-in sessions are scheduled for Wednesday 18 November (3pm-7pm) and Thursday 19 November (10am-2pm).
The library service is considered a vital component of the council’s prevention-focused approach, aiming to provide timely and effective support to residents.
