Warrington has been awarded nearly £900,000 from the Combined Authority’s Mayoral Investment Fund to drive economic growth through regeneration projects and support its cultural programme.

The funding, distributed across 15 projects region-wide via the Accelerating Strategic Growth and Celebrating Place programmes, includes £1.859 million in revenue and £2.223 million in capital investment. Of this, Warrington will receive £386,000 for its cultural initiatives and £500,000 for the Sankey Street phase two project.
The Sankey Street scheme aims to enhance the public realm, creating a more welcoming gateway to the town centre. It is designed to improve pedestrian, cycling, and wheeling access, encouraging greater footfall and supporting Warrington’s broader regeneration goals.
This investment marks a significant step since the establishment of the Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority earlier this year, utilising its Mayoral Investment Fund.

"We're delighted that Sankey Street Phase 2 has been awarded £500,000 of Mayoral Investment Fund funding, which will help us deliver this important scheme during the 2027/28 financial year. We’re also pleased that we have secured funding that will support our cultural programme, which we want to make sure supports a range of activities and initiatives."
