The operation, which took place on Wednesday 28 October, targeted four premises in the two towns. A total of 21,140 cigarettes and 3.6kg of hand-rolling tobacco were confiscated.
This action is part of ongoing efforts to combat the sale of illegal tobacco products. Such products are known to undermine legitimate businesses, fund criminal activities, and increase the accessibility of tobacco for children.
“"The Council's Public Protection team regularly works with partner agencies, including Cheshire Police and HMRC, to investigate intelligence and take action against traders found to be selling illicit goods."
The public can report any information regarding the sale of illegal tobacco anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website at crimestoppers-uk.org.
