The assembly is part of the council's ongoing engagement programme and will bring residents together to discuss key elements of the emerging Local Plan. Building on discussions from the first assembly in August, participants will explore a future vision for Cheshire East, focusing on housing growth requirements, development strategy options, and guiding principles for future development.
Councillor Mick Warren, Cheshire East Council's cabinet member for planning, housing and regeneration, highlighted the plan's importance. "The new Local Plan will play an important role in shaping how Cheshire East grows and develops in the years ahead and it is important that local people continue to be involved in those conversations," he stated.
Councillor Warren added, "Following our ‘scoping’ stage this Community Assembly will give residents the opportunity to discuss some of the key choices and priorities that will help inform the next stages of the Local Plan, including what our future vision for Cheshire East should be and the principles that should guide future development." He also noted a particular interest in hearing from younger residents aged 18 to 25, emphasising the importance of their voices in planning for future generations.
Individuals interested in participating in future Community Assemblies and other engagement opportunities are encouraged to sign up through Community Voices, the council’s resident panel. Members of Community Voices can be invited to take part in surveys, consultations, focus groups, and other engagement opportunities.
Places at Community Assemblies are allocated to ensure a broad range of views and experiences are represented. More information and registration details can be found at: www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/join.
