Trafford Council is investing in 14 new community projects aimed at promoting wellbeing and improving the lives of residents across the borough.

The funded initiatives encompass a wide array of activities, including Bollywood-inspired fitness, community cooking classes, DJing workshops, specialist therapy sessions, and storytelling programmes designed to foster connections between schoolchildren and older residents.
These grants, part of the 2026/27 Trafford Live Well Community Grants programme, were managed in collaboration with Trafford Community Collective. The collective will provide support to the recipient organisations over the next 12 months. This initiative is a key component of the Live Well strategy, a Greater Manchester initiative focused on delivering support locally and addressing health disparities.

"These 14 organisations represent the best of what Trafford’s community sector has to offer – trusted, rooted and genuinely led by the people they serve. We’re proud to back them, and even prouder of what they’ll go on to achieve for residents across the borough."

Bernadette Ashcroft · Chief Executive of Trafford Community Collective
Applications were reviewed by a panel comprising Trafford residents and key representatives from voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprise organisations.

"I would like to congratulate all fourteen organisations funded through this year’s Trafford Live Well Community Grants. This is about ensuring people can access the support, connections and opportunities they need within their own neighbourhoods, and it’s an important step in bringing the Greater Manchester Live Well vision to life across Trafford."

Cllr Rose Thompson · Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Housing, Partnerships and Live Well
The 14 successful projects include a Bollywood-inspired fitness programme for South Asian and ethnically diverse women in Stretford, wellbeing gatherings for Arabic-speaking refugee and migrant women, specialist therapy for women experiencing complex trauma, and mental health support for Caribbean and African communities. Other initiatives focus on developing peer support for children's mental health, community leadership training, holistic wellbeing programmes for women, and using food and cooking for mental wellbeing conversations. There are also projects offering free DJing and music production for young people, art and storytelling to connect generations, family wellbeing programmes, gentle movement and breathwork sessions in Old Trafford, Stretford and Broomwood, and free music tuition for low-income children in Old Trafford.
