The Trust's 0-19+ Service, which supports over 71,600 children and young people in Wirral, has been awarded a new five-year contract. This renewal highlights the Trust's ongoing dedication to providing high-quality, evidence-based services aimed at improving health and wellbeing outcomes for local families.
The service, which has been delivered in partnership with local families, schools, and community organisations since 2015, offers a range of support including Health Visiting, School Nursing, Breastfeeding Support, and the Family Nurse Partnership for young parents. It focuses on accessible and responsive care, providing both universal services and tailored support to those most in need.
The quality of the 0-19+ Service Wirral has received national recognition, achieving UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative Gold accreditation earlier this year. This highest level of recognition commends the service's sustained commitment to infant feeding and positive parent-infant relationships, with assessors praising staff for their dedication and compassion.
Lindsey Costello, Service Director, expressed pride in the staff's daily impact, stating, "Retaining this contract is a testament to the dedication, expertise and compassion of our staff, and the high quality services they deliver."
Janelle Holmes, Chief Executive of Wirral Community Health and Care, added, "The service provides compassionate, person-centred care and works closely with families and partners to ensure services reflect the needs of the local community."
Councillor Sue Powell-Wilde, Chair of the Adult Social Care and Public Health Committee, welcomed the contract renewal, noting the service's invaluable support and a 98% satisfaction rating from the NHS Friends and Family Test.
